How to rent a car for Uber or Lyft in Orlando, Florida

Renting a car to drive for a rideshare app can get you on the road without buying a vehicle. It only works if the car meets the app's rules and the rental company allows rideshare use. Here is the order to check things in.

1. Confirm the rental company allows rideshare use

Some rental agreements forbid driving for hire. Ask in writing. At Zillion Asset Group, rideshare use is shared in your rental agreement.

2. Check the app's current vehicle rules

Uber and Lyft each set their own rules for vehicle age, doors and inspection, and they change. Read the current requirements on the Uber and Lyft driver sites before you rent, not after.

3. Ask what insurance covers

Ask what the rental covers, what it does not, and what you would pay after an accident, both while the app is off and while you are on a trip. Our coverage: shared in your rental agreement.

4. Know the full weekly cost

Our Chevrolet Cruze is $300-$400 per week plus applicable taxes, with a $250 deposit and a one week minimum. Taxes and any fees are itemized in the rental agreement before you pay. Ask about mileage limits: shared in your rental agreement.

5. Ask what happens if the car breaks down

Find out who you call and whether you get a replacement. Our policy: shared in your rental agreement.

Ready to ask about the car? You can request a reservation and we will contact you about availability, approval and next steps.
