Questions to ask before renting a car for rideshare

Before you sign, get clear answers to these. A good rental company will answer plainly and put it in writing.

  1. What is the total weekly cost, including taxes and any fees?
  2. How much is the deposit, and when do I get it back?
  3. Is the car allowed for Uber and Lyft?
  4. What does the insurance cover, and what would I pay after an accident?
  5. Is there a mileage limit, and what happens if I go over?
  6. What is the late return fee?
  7. What is the cancellation policy?
  8. Who pays for maintenance and repairs?
  9. What happens if the car breaks down?
  10. What do I need to bring: license, age, background check, other documents?
